Why there is no “email reset”

Password recovery without identity

Normal sites reset passwords by emailing a link. That requires them to know your email — and to keep it forever. We chose not to collect it.

The recovery token proves it is your account At signup you saved a token only you should have. It is the cryptographic proof that you own the username — not a name, not an inbox, not a credit card.
We cannot help without it Support cannot look up your password (we only store a hash) and cannot send a reset link (no email on file). If you lost the token, create a new account with a different username.
That protects your privacy Companies cannot sell what they never collected. Hackers cannot steal an email list we never built. The tradeoff is simple: you hold the backup key, not us.
After reset you get a new token The old token stops working. Save the new one the same way you should have saved the first — locally, somewhere you control.
